Newport


Newport is a coastal city in Lincoln County, Oregon, United States. It is located on the central Oregon Coast, about 50 miles (80 km) west of Corvallis and about 180 miles (290 km) southwest of Portland. Newport is a popular tourist destination known for its natural beauty, including the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, which is a protected area that features a historic lighthouse, rocky cliffs, and a variety of marine life. The city also has a number of recreational activities such as fishing, swimming, and surfing, as well as hiking and picnicking along the nearby Oregon Coast Trail. Newport is also home to the Oregon Coast Aquarium, which features a variety of marine life from the Pacific Northwest. The city also has a historic bayfront area with shops, restaurants and a fishing fleet. It is a popular spot for whale watching and Dungeness crabbing.
